Greetings wayfarers,
We come bearing great news! ZAMANORA: Ballad of the Witch v1.0, including both the Core Book and Monsters & Fables, will be live next Wednesday, April 1st! (And no, this is not an April Fool's joke 😅)
We also have an exciting update regarding our release strategy. Rather than releasing the Core Book first as we originally planned to, we’ve spent the last few months refining both volumes to release them together in the wild.
What does "v1.0" mean? This is the definitive, polished version of both books. Having gone through rigorous editing and final checks, you can consider these books to be your final comprehensive guides across Zamanora and its many rustic tales.
This also marks an important milestone in the manufacturing process, as both books will be sent to the printers for prototyping right after that!
🎉 CELEBRATE WITH US
To mark the occasion, we’ll be joining the Son of Oak weekly stream to talk about Zamanora and Legend in the Mist. Catch us live on April 1st at:
4pm EDT / 1pm PDT
9pm CET / 10pm EEST
This is the link where the livestream will be hosted. You can click on it to Get Notified.
So, sharpen your silver blades, and join us as we part the mists!

CHECK OUT OUR FRIENDS: PACT
Our friends over at Black Lantern Studio just launched their latest Kickstarter campaign! PACT is an urban occult horror tabletop role-playing game where players take the role of Pactbearers, ordinary people who made a deal with a demon and now live with the consequences. Built on Free League’s acclaimed Year Zero Engine, PACT combines fast cinematic mechanics with intense personal horror storytelling.
In PACT, supernatural power comes through Blasphemies, powerful abilities granted by demonic patrons. Each use brings incredible power, but also pushes the character closer to corruption and damnation.
The game introduces unique mechanics such as Profane and Damnation Points, an advanced “pushing system” that grants players a currency used to empower their Blasphemies, while also giving the Whisperer the ability to unleash complications, negative effects, or even the direct intervention of their Patron Demons. If this all sounds interesting, check them out through this link.
Add-Ons Update 📚

Greetings wayfarers!
We hope you’ve been enjoying your time reading through Monsters & Fables so far. It's been great seeing the initial reactions to what we’ve built together.
Since the last update, our main focus has been polishing the final edits for the Core Book and Monsters & Fables. Alongside that, we’ve made significant headway on the project’s physical add-ons. Here is a look at how things are going 👇
🌳 WAYFARER’S JOURNAL

The Wayfarer’s Journal writing, editing, and layout are finished. You can see the cover by Sina Abbasnia in the image above, as well as the 2024 D&D sheet designed by Angeliki Savvantoglou. We’re really happy with how it has come out!
As it stands, the Wayfarer’s Journal is a complete player’s companion for the table. It features character sheets for D&D 2024 and Legend in the Mist, alongside ample space dedicated to your background, tracking NPCs and monsters you encounter, as well as other adventure notes. The journal also contains pages to keep you immersed, such as the local Calendar and a couple of actual recipes for Zamanoran delicacies, including the Fanouris’ Pie baked as part of the homonymous ceremony.
🃏 MAGIC ITEM CARDS

We are also excited to share that the Magic Item Cards add-on is complete.
This deck covers the various relics of the Old World, alchemical concoctions, wild mushrooms, and wondrous items one may uncover through their journey across the Land of Mists.
The deck contains 98 tarot-sized cards, each featuring rules for both D&D 2024 and Legend in the Mist, allowing for a quick reference of their effects without needing to pull out the book. The reverse side of every card is decorated with its corresponding artwork, so they can also serve as handouts to pass around the table during your adventures.
🗺️ LAIR BATTLEMAPS
As part of our €275K Stretch Goal, four Lair Battlemaps were commissioned, each depicting the domain of one of Zamanora’s most iconic and feared entities. While they are still a ways off, we couldn’t resist giving you a sneak peek of the incredible work of Stained Karbon!
Featured in the image above is Baba Yaga’s Lair, her Chicken-Legged Hut. This is but one of the variants we have prepared for you.
As a reminder, the maps will be made available for everyone, regardless of pledge level. So, rejoice (or despair), as not a single one of you will escape fighting Baba Yaga in her dreaded hut! 😈
📦 VERSION 1.0 OF THE BOOKS
We are currently finalizing both the Core Book and Monsters & Fables. We have integrated all of the notes your expert eyes caught and are moving on to scouring every page ourselves for any final pesky errors or visual bugs. Version 1.0 for both books will be live soon.
If you have any unreported errors yourself, now is the time to drop them in our Discord server!
🤩COOL STUFF! HOW CAN I GET THEM?
If you missed any of these add-ons during the campaign, you can still include them in your pledge by contacting us directly or through this link.
Thanks for sticking with us as we move into the final production phases!

Monsters & Fables v0.9 is Online 🎉
– Mon, Feb 02, 2026 at 10:30:43 AM
The second book of ZAMANORA: Ballad of the Witch is officially online!
On top of the original content promised during the Kickstarter campaign, Monsters & Fables also includes the Stretch Goals we unlocked together:
Sacred Idols. A brand-new chapter dedicated to idols of Slavic heritage, featuring twice as many idols as originally planned, for a total of 20.
More Adventure Locales. Including the Backer Milestone Goals, this chapter now features 10 Adventure Locales, expanding it to over 100 pages.
Additional Monsters. Ten iconic creatures have been added to the Bestiary, including Svyatogor the Sacred Mountain, the Sirin, and the Alkonost.
But the additional content did not end there! Inspired by your own stories in Zamanora, we continued to develop every nook and cranny of the world. For example, the Pantheon was expanded with additional lore, we added a way to generate Scenes in the Exploration system, and multiple minor Organizations were added to further populate Zamanora.
In total, Monsters & Fables now exceeds 460 pages, nearly double our initial estimates. This growth came with a significant increase in production costs, requiring additional illustrations, more complex layout work, and numerous extra hours of writing and development.
We ultimately decided to absorb these costs ourselves, refusing to limit the book’s potential just to stay within budget. The main reason we were able to make this choice was your incredible support, which far surpassed our expectations when we clicked the “Launch” button on our Kickstarter page just a few months ago.
Be sure to check your emails for your DriveThruRPG download link.
As for those who have not grabbed Monsters & Fables yet…what are you doing?! 👀 This is your last chance to get it at its current price. Once the printed version is out in the wild, the price will increase to reflect its greatly expanded size and production costs.
NOTE: This is NOT the final version of Monsters & Fables. Although no further content will be added, some graphical elements and final edits are still required to finalize it.
🤔 WHAT’S NEXT?
While this version of Monsters & Fables is very close to the finalized version, before going to print, we’re going to spend some time fixing typos and bugs so that the physical book is as spotless as it can be. However, our top priority is to bring the Core Book to version 1.
Add-On development is also underway. Work has begun on the Foundry VTT version of the book, and you’ll have the chance to enjoy the work of the wonderful Stained Karbon, who is drawing the Lair Battlemaps of Zamanora’s villainous figures.
✋ CAN I HELP?
Absolutely! The best thing you can do for us would be to scroll through Monsters & Fables and give us your feedback. This is the last chance we’ll have to incorporate your feedback before the book hits the printers! You can send us anything you’d like to comment on our Discord* server through the dedicated channels.
*Should you decide to join our merry band on Discord, message one of our Admins with your backer name, so that you can get your special backer role.

State of Things: Monsters & Fables Size Increase and More 📚
3 months ago
– Mon, Dec 22, 2025 at 09:38:03 AM
Greetings wayfarers,
It’s been some time since we delivered v0.9 of the Core Book, and we are delighted that it has kept you busy! Your stories in Zamanora are making their way back to us and it’s incredible to see the world coming to life around your tables. Your feedback and kind words are also greatly appreciated—they help us make sure we are moving in the right direction, while boosting our morale! 🙂
But onto the more nitty-gritty side of things. Over the last few months we have completely shifted our focus to finalizing Monsters & Fables. Before the Kickstarter campaign, we estimated that the second book of ZAMANORA: Ballad of the Witch would run up to about 200-250 pages of content. We are pleased to announce that we are way past that mark and we are looking at a final page count of more than 350 pages!
Together with the Core Book, this project has moved from a scope of 400+ pages to a whopping 600+, for a 50% increase over the initial projections.
Excellent question! Part of the increase stems from the Stretch Goals we unlocked during the Kickstarter campaign, such us the 5 extra Adventure Locales, the entirely new Sacred Idols chapter, plus 10 additional Monsters.
For the most part, it’s because we’ve upgraded almost every chapter of the book. We’ve dedicated an entire chapter to the pantheon of Zamanora, since many of you were interested in additional information about them. The Exploration system has doubled in content, filled with ways to generate Scenes, not just Encounters. A system was added to Cults & Organizations to ensure they have more impact than just roleplay around the table, as well as a Minor Organizations section to help you populate Zamanora.
Why, you may ask? Because we’ve promised to bring you the best we can do for Zamanora.
Isn’t a larger page count more expensive?
Yes. Such a bump in the page count requires extra illustrations, more layout elements, more writing and even disregarding that, it increases the manufacturing costs significantly.
Thankfully, the campaign was a much bigger success than we originally planned, and we can absorb these extra costs without jeopardizing the future of the team. After all, it would be unfair to cripple the potential of the book to stay within budget.
When are we getting the books?
The Core Book’s v0.9 has already been delivered (if you have not downloaded it yet, reach out to us, and we will help you get it). This version includes 100% of the content of the book, barring some extra editing and layout details.
As for the Monsters & Fables, we are nearing the last stretch of the book. We are finalizing the Exploration System, editing the Places of Power internally, and playtesting the new systems. A lot of it is already in layout… that’s how we discovered its true size in the first place! There are some lore pieces missing, but we are confidently filling them in day by day.
With the Christmas holidays approaching—and given that we haven’t seen much sunlight since the project was funded—we also want to take a bit of time to rest and be present with our families and friends. We’ll still be writing and refining, but we want to do so in a way that’s respectful to our loved ones and ourselves.
With that in mind, you should expect v0.9 of Monsters & Fables to land in January. Until then, please enjoy the 100+ pages of its content that have dropped in playtest packages and keep the feedback coming!
Thank you for understanding. We hope you have a wonderful holiday season 🎄
Kind Regards,
The Eren Chronicles
