Latest Updates from Our Project:

Community Build: We are building a Crone Warlock 🔮
about 1 year ago – Mon, Aug 11, 2025 at 08:38:50 AM

Greetings fellow brewers 🧪

On our last Community Build update, we asked you to vote on which of your suggested Subclass options we should build together. You answered the call and the results of the Community Build are in!

After an early intense battle between 2-3 options, a clear winner emerged... voted by 52.4% of the voters, you chose to base our Subclass on one of the most legendary creatures of Slavic and Balkan folklore alike.

The Crone Warlock!
Bound to the ageless witch of the woods Baba Yaga, or similar beings who have transcended mortal bounds, this warlock wields ancient magics that once shaped the world.

As an honorary mention, the Hearthbound Rogue came in second voted by 39%, and the Shaman Druid came in third with 31.7%

Now, it is time to flesh this Subclass out. Let's imagine the Crone Warlock together. Head on over to our Discord server and the Community Build channel to cast your suggestions!

If you’re new to the server, make sure to contact an admin with your backer name so that we can give you your backer role and you will be able to participate in the discussions.

We will use your suggestions as inspiration to proceed with a first draft of the Crone Subclass.

State of Things: Updates & Progress 🌄
about 1 year ago – Tue, Jul 29, 2025 at 06:28:48 AM

Greetings wayfarers,

We hope you’ve been enjoying the latest playtest wave! Hopefully, it has helped take your mind off this accursed heatwave 🥵 As we’re reaching the final stretch of digital production for Zamanora, we wanted to give you an update on how things are going and our plans for the near future.

Content Update

To say that 2025 has been an incredibly eventful year so far is an understatement. From the US tariffs bringing an unprecedented upheaval to physical production, to war breaking out and impacting supply lines (and far more importantly, peoples’ lives), we’ve had to tackle a lot of issues we could not have expected before starting this project.

Thankfully, we’ve managed to navigate these difficulties to ensure that the project can continue being developed at no extra cost to you. However, that means that our limited team had to refocus on other aspects of the project first, to make it possible. The good news is that those hurdles are now largely behind us and we can finally give the creative side of this project the full attention it deserves.

Of course, that does not mean that writing took a backseat. It simply had to progress alongside all the problem-solving that was required. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at where the content stands right now.

Core book

Approximately 90% of the content for the Core book has already been written. This includes the majority of the character options, such as subclasses, items, spells, and more. We're currently focusing on getting the lore of the species just right so that we can properly introduce them to Zamanora, as well as the Backgrounds chapter, and the introductory chapter that establishes the tone for the entire setting. Artwork and layout are about 80% complete for this book as well.

You can check out significant portions of this content right now on the playtest packages!

Monsters and Fables

Approximately 70% of the content for the Monsters and Fables book is complete. All the monsters have been completed and have their unique artwork and layout finalized. The majority of them have been converted to Legend in the Mist as well! We're currently focusing on writing the Adventure Locales, creating the Organizations and crafting the additional systems that will be presented here, such as the Exploration Rules and Faith Made Manifest.

As you can see, the project is in its final steps of development. You might have noticed this by the increased size of our latest playtest wave.

As we are putting work towards the final parts of the two books, we want to conduct more playtests and deliver more content to you. This is especially true for content written in the Legend in the Mist system, which many of you have been eager to experience.

Legend in the Mist

If you’ve been keeping up with the development of Legend in the Mist, you probably joined us in celebrating the release of their v1.0 Core Book at the beginning of this month.

While we’ve had early access to a lot of their content, we’ve been ecstatic to finally witness how everything is coming together. True to their word, Son of Oak has produced an amazing game, which we are elated to include in our project.

As you know, we’ve been working on designing Zamanora for both 5e and Legend in the Mist, since the early conception of the project. This helped us get a solid understanding of the LitM system and its unique approach to storytelling, so we can lay the groundwork for developing Zamanora. As things progressed however, we focused on what we know best (5e) to build upon that initial foundation. Now that the final version of Legend in the Mist is out, we’re shifting our attention back to ensuring Zamanora fully embraces the core vision of the system.

Those who are familiar with the system know that this is not a simple numerical conversion like one would do for Pathfinder or something similar. Legend in the Mist is a rather narrative focused game, placing scenes and roleplay first, while doing away with number crunching or tactical combat for the most part (depending on which variants you include). Character progression, different power levels and challenges are vastly different from those of 5e. This means that for the most part “conversion” for that system means rewriting something from scratch from the same inspiration. You can see this highlighted in the Mirkshade demo monsters, where LitM statblocks represent general threats instead of being a list of abilities.

As such, conversion to Legend in the Mist is something that we’re taking the time to do properly, keeping the themes of the system intact. Essentially, several parts of the books are written twice and then edited together into a cohesive whole, that is not exhaustive to read, but offers the advantages of both worlds.

In this endeavor, we are incredibly grateful for the advice and guidance Son of Oak provides and especially thankful to their developers who are always available to ensure that our content is faithfully written in their system.

Delay

As we mentioned earlier, quite a few unexpected challenges have come up since launching this project, which required the immediate attention of our small team in order to ensure the project is fulfilled at no additional cost to you. While we’ve made leaps and bounds in production and shipping, it also means that the development of the digital version of the book fell slightly behind our original schedule.

We have chosen to delay the digital release to October 2025 to coincide with Legend in the Mist’s full digital delivery.

This decision was not taken lightly. As we’re moving closer to finalizing the content, we’ve noticed a few areas where we can work on improving it further. In the end, our main goal is to deliver something truly special to you, and that means taking a little more time to polish it.

This does not mean that the physical delivery will be delayed however.

We originally allotted a lot of extra time for production and shipping and since we tackled some of these difficulties first, we are on schedule for our original physical release date (if not earlier).

We’re incredibly grateful for your continued support and trust, especially over on Discord. Talking with you has been a continued source of inspiration that pushes the project to become something even better than originally envisioned.

We hope that you have a chance to enjoy your summer and know that we're doing everything we can to ensure that your foray into Zamanora is worth the wait.
